Yemen - Wounded land

Yemen - west Coast on the red sea - Between the front line of Hoddeida, Aden and Taez . 10,000 - The number of dead and wounded civilians seems to have been frozen for months, but the population continues to die, under the bombs of some, the mines of others, victims of uxo or malnutrition. We talk about famine, a big word, as if to hide behind a fatality and ward off our responsibility. But this first fratricidal war quickly took an international turn. With almost general indifference, however, the country sank. It is bloody, nature has covered itself with rubbish, fields and countryside are mined for years to come, making crops such as children's games impossible. In the small town of Mawza 25 poeple were hit by mines or uxo out of 600 inhabitans. Traumatized populations have moved. Yesterday the region was green, the war covered it with a thick layer of sand and plastic bag. The frontline advances and leaves behind a gaping wound.
