France Keyser has been a member of Agence M.Y.O.P since 2012.
She was born two years after May 1968 and grew up in the countryside. She discovered Paris and photography in her twenties, photographing all the jazz clubs of the city before turning to news reporting for the international press. She has worked in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Turkey, Israel and Palestine. These trips to countries at war allowed her to share the life of people facing extreme situations. She now concentrates on exploring tensions within French society.
Since 2005, France Keyser has been living in Marseille. After 4 years of photographic enquiries, she produced a book about the Muslims of France, Nous sommes Français et musulmans (2010, Autrement Publishing), with texts by Vincent Geisser. "By going to meet these French people and giving a face to the silent majority, I hope to have produced an educational work that will moderate the debate and clear up misunderstandings," she says.
Since 2010, she has been documenting the militants of the French National Front, which is well established in the south of France. This work was exhibited at Visa in Perpignan (2012), at the Rencontres Photographiques d’Arles (2014), and at DOCfield in Barcelona (2016). It has been published widely in the French press.
In 2015, she returned to the French muslims that she had met for her book to enquire about how were they coping after the islamic terrorist attacks in Toulouse in 2012 and in Paris in 2015? The resulting series of portraits was exhibited at the Hotel Sauroy in Paris and at the Photolux Festival in Lucca, Italy, in late 2015. After the attacks in Paris, on 13 November 2015, l’Obs published a portfolio entitled "We, Muslims of France" on 10 December 2015, along with handwritten testimony by her subjects.
In 2016, she took part in a group exhibition entitled "European man" as part of DOCfield in Barcelona.
France Keyser works in parallel for the daily and weekly French and international press, on political issues and current affairs.
